Bitplaza Embraces Dogecoin Payments on Shopping App

Global shopping app Bitplaza is now accepting Dogecoin payments for items in its marketplace. Until its latest announcement, Bitplaza was a Bitcoin-focused application and only allowed users to make Bitcoin payments. In light of the new development, users can now purchase tech gadgets, tools, or groceries using the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin.

Bitplaza’s app is available on both Apple’s app store and Google’s playstore. The global shopping platform acknowledged that it had received several requests from its customers urging it to accept more cryptocurrency options. Bitplaza has honoured these requests giving room for Dogecoin to be used as a payment option other than Bitcoin.

Bitplaza Allows Users to Suggest Other Cryptocurrencies

Bitplaza has also added a process for listing cryptocurrencies as part of its intention to speed up the addition of more payment methods. Users can fill the forms stating their details and the cryptocurrency they want Bitplaza to list as an option. Bitplaza aims to establish a global crypto shopping platform that will enjoy adoption from all and sundry.

Crypto payments are currently being embraced around the world given their incentive of low cost and faster transactions. Although Bitplaza has been allowing crypto payments from the outset, adding the payment option of DOGE is considered as a move to encourage crypto adoption in the US and on a global scale.

Dogecoin Receives Adoption from AMC Theater

Meanwhile, Dogecoin is getting more popular among crypto enthusiasts despite being a meme token. US-based and world’s largest movie theater AMC Entertainment recently adopted the meme cryptocurrency weeks after announcing that Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash payments were now allowed. While AMC Entertainment announced that the latter cryptocurrencies would be accepted as payments for movie tickets, it only embraced Dogecoin payments for its gift cards.

The movie theater set out to embrace crypto payments since more people prefer to purchase items with crypto. Besides, AMC saw it as an avenue to jack up its revenue. AMC was at the edge of bankruptcy after its revenue nosedived during the 2020 pandemic until a group of Redditors with major interests in meme stocks began buying up its stocks to save the company.

Dogecoin is also courting the interest of celebrities like Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk who cannot stop talking about the meme token. A significant number of his tweets since the start of the year has been about Dogecoin. Elon Musk has also admitted that he holds Dogecoin but the billionaire did not say the amount.

Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks founder and also a billionaire is now a Dogecoin proponent having revealed that more fans of his basketball club bought the latter’s merchandise with Dogecoin than other cryptocurrencies. Following this, Cuban at one time mentioned that DOGE is the people’s cryptocurrency. Dogecoin is trading at $0.24 and up by 1.4% as of press time. Dogecoin has also produced many spin-off tokens like Shiba Inu, Floki Inu, after which Elon Musk named his new dog.
