Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin Is Now The World’s Youngest Billionaire

Vitalik Buterin, the man responsible for the launch of the Ethereum blockchain in 2015, is now the world’s youngest billionaire. It probably hasn’t escaped your attention that ETH has been on a hell of a run this past week and honestly is showing no real signs of slowing up. At the time of writing the price of ETH is now trading above $3,400.

Why does this make Buterin a billionaire? Well, as you imagine he holds a lot of ETH! and you can also imagine that he got in at the earliest entry point. In his ETH wallet in which he disclosed in 2018, he held an incredible 333,520 ETH. This took his wealth to the billion mark at around $3250.

The market cap of ETH is now at $400 billion. This amount has jumped by about $120 billion in the space of a week. This is somewhat short of the Bitcoin $1 trillion market cap but the gap is shrinking and some are even predicting that we might see Ethereum flip Bitcoin this cycle. This sounds a little far-fetched since Bitcoin is very likely to grow also but it is certainly possible in the future.

Buterin was born in 1994, in a small town just outside of Moscow named, Kolomna. He later moved to Canada with his family and was raised there. At just 18 he co-founded a Bitcoin magazine with Mihai Alisie, who later joined him in forming Ethereum as well. At just 21 he launched Ethereum and within 2 years the coin was the highest performing altcoin on the market.
