BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo Surrenders in US, Released On $20M bail

Benjamin Delo, one of the co-founders of the digital currency exchange BitMex, has surrendered to U.S authorities. The Brit pleaded not guilty to all charges against him as he appeared before a New York judge.
Delo was in the U.K at the time these charges were made against him and flew to the US after agreeing his surrender to American authorities. This was arranged after his legal team engaged in negotiations with U.S. attorney Jessica Greenwood over his surrender. The current travel ban in place had to overcome the current travel ban which could have prevented Delo from being allowed to travel to the U.S from the U.K.

Bloomberg reported that Delo appeared before Judge Sarah Cave of the Southern District of New York in a remote proceeding. After Delo pleaded not guilty he exercised his right to be granted bail and incredibly his bail was worth $20 million. He is now allowed to travel back to the U.K and return to the U.S when called upon by the court.

Delo has been charged with operating an unregistered trading platform and violating the Bank Secrecy Act. The claims made by The Justice Department are that he in tandem with Arthur Hayes and Sam Reed, allowed U.S citizens to use Bitmex without observing anti-money laundering laws.
